NSG Gears of War headed to Paris this weekend (May 5th-7th) to compete in the upcoming Pro Circuit event. A few days before the event, our team were made aware that they had made it into Pool play after a player from Last Ride was unable to make the trip to Paris. We were placed in Group C along with eUnited, who are considered as one of the top teams in the world, and Team Allegiance, another strong American Gears of War team.
Our tournament started off against eUnited and things were looking good starting off, with the scores being tied 2-2, but eUnited proved why they are a top team and pulled away to take map one, 7-3. Map two was a different story, our guys played to their full potential but narrowly lost 7-6 in a great game.
Game two was against Team Allegiance with both teams falling to eUnited at this stage, so it would all come down to who was on better form as a team. Again, Team Allegiance showed why they were in Pool play and managed to take both games, 7-2, 7-3.
This left us 0-2 in Pool play with the open bracket team still left to play and Sigma Gaming took that spot. Pressure was on us at this stage as Sigma were coming off wins but the team dug deep, and hype was a major factor as we were able to win 7-3, 7-4 and give us a better seeding going into the next stage of the tournament.
Into the losers bracket we went and faced up against Prismatic. Our guys were confident even though there had been a significant break in between games. Unfortunately this was were our tournament ended after losing 7-6, 7-6. The games could not have been closer but Prismatic managed to clutch up and win both games.
We would like to thank our team for representing NSG in the highest order and hope that they would continue to represent us after Paris.
